Gas analyst says it'll go up 14-cents overnight, largely blaming switch from winter to summer gas
Better fill up your gas tank now, as a gas analyst says the price at the pump is set to skyrocket.
Dan McTeague confirms it'll go from around $1.65 today in Niagara, to around $1.80 tomorrow.
He's partly blaming this on switching from winter to summer gas, but also Liberal, NDP, Green and Bloc Quebecios politicians who want carbon taxes. "They want prices to increase so you buy electric vehicles, so you get your electricity from solar or wind. But the effect has never really been understood by those who vote for this kind of stuff who say 'I'll get a rebate, it won't cost me anything'. Well, it is does."
He adds our weak Canadian dollar does not help, in that it doesn't buy as much.
"We have a weak Canadian dollar, that costs us an extra 32 cents a litre. We continue to see ever increasing prices as a result of things like carbon taxes, which now represents an entire 20-cents on a litre of gasoline."
He recalls around 2010, when the dollar was on par with the US dollar, giving more power to the Canadian dollar.
