A retired paramedic says he wants to be St. Catharines' mayor because the voice of people needs to be heard.
Henry Bosch says fixing underground infrastructure and helping the homeless are his top priorities. "We have to sit down with them, with the proper entities, and find out why they're homeless."
He adds it's not right to simply move homeless camps, the city can use abandoned buildings. "I'm sure for the price of trying to retrofit them and get them up and moving would be cheaper than trying to go to Alberta and getting these horrible houses, that have fallen through a few times in the city."
He also wants a multi-year plan to fix infrastructure that he says should've been done 10-years ago. "$2-million just a couple of months ago put into a new pickleball court and ball diamond. I understand they're necessary, but when your infrastructure is crumbling, that's $2-million that could've gone somewhere else."
He says the city is trying a band aid solution to infrastructure. "It's become bad, and it could've been fixed years ago, probably for 1/20th of the cost it'll now take to fix it."
He says new developers will have to make overflow systems to prevent flooding.
