Crews spent about twelve hours battling flames at an industrial building on Smith Street in St. Catharines
A fire at an industrial building in St. Catharines has caused a large amount of damage.
Around 7:30 p.m. last night, crews were called to Niagara Investment Castings on Smith Street.
Deputy Fire Chief Trevor Parker says nobody was hurt, as the building had been shut down for two weeks.
Parker adds crews took a defence approach and fought the fire from the outside due to the flames.
The back of the building was demolished, and damage is pegged between one and three million dollars.
Fire crews left the area around 7:00 a.m. this morning.
There is no word on a cause, and the province's Fire Marshall has been called in to investigate.
