Niagara's unemployment rate has dropped to 5.2 percent, which is in line with the national record low.
Statistics Canada says nationally, the jobless rate decreased to 5.2 percent in April, which is down from the previous record of 5.3 percent in March.
This is the lowest point since at least 1976.
The agency says professional, scientific and technical services rose by 15,000, while the public administration field gained 17,000 more workers.
However, the number of people working in retail trade fell by 22,000 in April.
There was also a 21,000 drop in construction workers last month.
The agency also notes a drop in the number of part time workers that would prefer full-time work.
