King Charles III will deliver a throne speech tomorrow.
OTTAWA - Canada's capital is about to have a royal visit.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla will arrive in Ottawa this afternoon. They're expected to visit a farmers market and community event at Landsdowne Park this afternoon, before heading to Rideau Hall for a tree-planting ceremony and formal events.
The royal couple will head to the Senate building tomorrow using Canada’s State Landau. It's a horse-drawn carriage and it will be driven by a member of the RCMP's musical ride unit.
King Charles will receive a 21 gun salute once he arrives and delivers a throne speech. It is written by the government in order to showcase it's priorities for the legislative session and it's usually read by the Governor General, serving as a representative of the monarch. Queen Elizabeth II read two throne speeches during her reign, the first in 1957 and the second in 1977.
Robert Finch, the chairman of the Monarchist League of Canada, says this royal visit will be a pivotal moment in the history of our country.
