Amirov had been battling a brain tumour
A young prospect for the Toronto Maple Leafs has died.
Rodion Amirov has passed away after being diagnosed with a brain tumour last year.
He was 21 years old.
In April 2021, he signed a three year contract with the Leafs after being selected 15th overall in the 2020 entry draft.
He missed the entire season last year as he underwent treatment.
