It happened after vehicle stopped in Port Colborne
A North York man faces charges after a traffic stop in Port Colborne led to a human trafficking investigation.
The alleged trafficking of a woman over 18 is believed to have happened in Ontario and Quebec.
Police believe there may be more witnesses and are urging anyone with more information to come forward.
31-year-old Jamal Cooper-Batist faces three human trafficking-related charges:
- Trafficking in persons, contrary to Section 279.01(1) of the Criminal Code
- Receive a financial or other material benefit, contrary to Section 279.02(1) of the Criminal Code
- Fail to comply with probation, contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code
