Victim remains in hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries
A Wainfleet man has been arrested after a stabbing in Niagara Falls.
Police say around 9:24 p.m. on Saturday night, officers responded to a disturbance call on Stanton Avenue near Ferguson Street.
When officers arrived, a 26 year old man was found with a stab wound.
Niagara EMS took the victim to an out of region trauma centre.
He remains in hospital with injuries that are serious but non-life threatening.
Investigators say the stabbing occurred after a disturbance among a group of acquaintances outside a home on Stanton Avenue.
The suspect fled on foot, but was quickly found on Elgin Street.
Jason Shute, 26, faces the following charges:
- Aggravated assault
- Assault with a weapon
- Possession of a weapon
A bail hearing took place yesterday, and he was released on a Form 11 Release Order.
He'll be back in court on April 19th.
