Welland's mayor explaining his shift in how he sees government restructuring in Niagara.
Frank Campion has held to Regional Chair Bob Gale's initital preference, of a 4 or 1-city government, however, both now believe the region must stay, with a chair and 12 councillors.
The mayor writes he's received plenty of feedback from residents, members of council, and community stakeholders, and has decided no amalgamation.
He also endorses reducing the size of some city councils, reducing at the region and city addresses the mandate.
The mayor also refers to city council's decision last year to maintain a 6-ward system, but adds having one councillor per ward is the most logical step to help streamline government.
