The NDP say 18 MZOs were given to developers
The NDP says the province gave 18 Minister's Zoning Orders to developers who attended the wedding of Premier Doug Ford's daughter last year
The orders can be used to fast track development in a given area.
Niagara Centre MPP Jeff Burch, who is the opposition's critic for municipal affairs, says the orders, along with issues surrounding the Greenbelt and urban boundaries, have created chaos for municipalities.
"All of these bad decision by Ford have caused a huge amount of instability for municipalities, urban planners, developers, anyone who is trying to actually get homes built. That has created a massive waste of time for municipalities, as they struggle to adapt to these chaotic changes."
NDP Leader Marit Stiles adds nine of the MZOs were given to Shakir Rehmatullah, the owner of Flato Developments.
Former minister Kalled Rasheed and the premier's former housing policy director both stepped down, after it was revealed the pair went to Las Vegas with Rehmatullah.
Housing Minister Paul Calandra says he's reviewing the zoning orders, but the province will continue using them to meet its housing targets.
