Local politicians worried new Toronto casino will impact profits at casinos in Niagara Falls
The casinos in Niagara Falls are about to get a little more competition.
Canada Gaming Entertainment has announced plans to open a Vegas-style casino in Toronto.
The company says the facility, which will be named the Great Canadian Casino Resort, will be incorporated into Casino Woodbine.
It will include a 5,000 seat entertainment venue and a hotel with 400 rooms.
Local politicians have expressed concern that the casino would impact profits made in Niagara Falls, as the casinos here get a lot of visitors from Toronto.
Niagara Falls is home to Casino Niagara and Fallsview Casino Resort, which has just opened a 5,000 seat theatre called the OLG Stage.
The company says the facility will open this summer, but an exact date hasn't been announced yet.
