Two new electric vehicle charging stations behind City Hall
There are two new electric vehicle charging stations in Welland.
The stations are located behind City Hall, and up to four cars can be charged at the same time.
Drivers can use them from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Charging costs are $3 per hour, including charging and parking fees.
The City received a $20,000 grant from Natural Resources Canada, bringing the cost to about $28,000.
The cost will be funded through building permit revenue, and is accounted for in the 2023 capital budget.
"The federal grant significantly offsets the cost to the City for this environmentally-friendly initiative, and we will appreciate the support of the federal government to provide sustainable and environmental options in Welland," said Mayor Frank Campion. "Though the main objective of this project is to provide efficient charging for the City's current and future EV fleet, it also offers residents the ability to charge their EVs in expanding locations."
