The Town of Pelham has become the ninth municipality to vote in favour of consolidated transit in Niagara.
A new Transit Commission will soon be created for Niagara.
During Monday night's council meeting, the Town of Pelham became the ninth municipality to vote in favour of the proposal.
Officials say in order to move forward with the plan, support from a majority of Niagara's 12 municipal councils was needed.
Regional council voted in favour of the plan on November 25th.
The new Transit Commission is proposed to begin operations on January 1st, 2023.
In the meantime, existing transit systems will remain operational as the region works to ensure a smooth transition.
