Board realigns election boundaries for Welland, St. Catharines, Pelham and Niagara-on-the-Lake.
With six months to go until the municipal election, the Niagara Catholic District School Board says it has re-aligned election boundaries for several areas.
This includes St. Catharines, Welland, Niagara-on-the-Lake and Pelham.
Currently, voters in Niagara-on-the-Lake are represented by trustees from Niagara Falls, though Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School in St. Catharines is the home school for secondary students from Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Therefore, under the new plan, trustees representing St. Catharines will also represent Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Meanwhile, Pelham is currently aligned with Grimsby, Lincoln and West Lincoln, though students in the area attend Notre Dame College School in Welland as their home institution.
Therefore, going forward, the trustee elected for Welland will also represent Pelham.
