Two people sustain minor injuries
A Niagara Falls man is facing charges after an assault in Niagara Falls.
Around 9:35 p.m. on July 30th, police received a call about an assault involving a weapon at a home on Stamford Street near Buchanan Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found two victims: a 55 year-old man from Thorold, and a 47 year old woman from Brampton.
Both victims were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
When police arrived, a male suspect ran into an apartment, barricaded the door and refused to come out.
Investigators say the suspect was angry with the male victim and shoved him to the ground.
He then used a vacuum to smash a glass door of the residence.
The property manager tried to get involved, and she was hit with the vacuum.
While barricaded, the suspect smashed property inside the residence.
After lengthy negotiations, police de-escalated the situation, and the suspect surrendered peacefully at 4:04 a.m.
Charles Bitton, 31, has been charged with the following offences:
- Assault
- Mischief Under $5000 (2 Counts)
