Provincial government increasing cancer prevention for 10 local fire departments
Firefighters across the Niagara region are getting more help from the provincial government.
It's investing over $620,000 into 10 local fire departments, through the Fire Protection Grant, to expand cancer prevention and improve emergency response to lithium-ion battery related incidents.
Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff made the announcement at Station 3 of the Wainfleet fire department.
The money is for protective equipment and technology upgrades for lithium-ion battery responses.
