Niagara Health says Sarah Jane Paton worked at the Welland and Marotta hospital sites
Flags are flying at half mast today at Niagara Health, as everyone mourns the loss of a co-worker, Sarah Jane Paton.
She was one of the 6 people who are presumed dead after an air ambulance crashed over the weekend off the coast of Massachusetts.
Niagara Health says she worked in the Intensive Care Unit of the Marotta Family hospital, since 2021, before that she was at the Welland hospital.
Colleagues remember her for always putting others first, had snacks to share, and one person said she was "the chaos and calm simultaneously", in her energy and steady presence.
Colleagues remember her optimism, and her locker, always filled with candy for anyone needing a pick me up after a long shift.
Niagara Health adds she was always looking to improve herself, and when she became a flight nurse, she'd found her calling.
