Hamilton, Niagara, Haldimand, Brant and Burlington hospital chiefs release joint statement
The group says they're working together to ensure a consistent approach across the region.
At a minimum, staff, physicians, contractors, volunteers and students will need to either show proof of vaccination or a medical reason for not getting the shots, or participate in an education session about the benefits of getting vaccinated against COVID-19.
These individuals will be required to report their vaccination status by September 1st.
Employees who aren't fully immunized will also need to undergo regular COVID-19 screening.
The group also says new hires may be required to be double-dosed.
