Niagara Catholic graduate set record for highest-ever average at Blessed Trinity Catholic Secondary School.
A local high school graduate has received an $8,000 bursary for his hard work on and off the ice.
Dylan Pergentile, a graduate of Blessed Trinity Catholic Secondary School in Grimsby, is one of five Ontario students selected for the OMHA - Dairy Farmers of Ontario bursary.
The OMHA says students were selected for their roles as players, referees and coaches in the Ontario Minor Hockey League Association, as well as their grades and extracurricular activities.
Pergentile, who now holds the school's record for highest-ever average in its 26 year history, spent seven seasons with the West Niagara (formerly Grimsby) Minor Hockey Association, which he says has taught him a lot.
"Respect and responsibility and the importance of friendship and trust with teammates," he says. "It’s also taught me lessons through working through problems within a team on the ice or off the ice and those problem-solving skills and way of tackling them have benefitted myself academically."
Pergentile is now a student at McMaster University, studying Integrated Biomedical Engineering and Health Sciences.
