Niagara Centre MPP Jeff Burch says the provincial government needs to take immediate action to protect seniors.
He says Minister of Long-Term Care Merrilee Fullerton ignored warnings about the risks COVID-19 posed to residents of long-term care homes.
"It’s irresponsible and unbelievable for the minister of long-term care to claim that she holds no responsibility for long-term care. Seniors, and their families, expect the minister to be responsible for their well-being and accountable for their care."
He says the results of the Long-Term Care Commission report reveal that the Ford government wasn't prepared for a pandemic and that decades of neglect left residents vulnerable.
