The South Niagara hospital can expect an influx of cash from the Niagara Regional Council.
Council has approved investing $44.5 million in the hospital's local share funding portion, depending on a final budget review.
Payment will take place over several years once the new hospital has been opened.
The local share is the percentage of funding that the hospital is responsible for.
This includes ten percent of eligible construction costs and all costs associated with buying and replacing fixtures, equipment and furniture.
The majority of the hospital project will be funded by the province.
The project remains on schedule, and the request for proposals is set to be released this fall.
