The region says this was for how a water main leak was fixed
Another award for the Niagara region, this time from the Ontario Public Works Association.
The region says a new techique was used for water infrastructure repair, the annual award for Disaster or Emergency Contruction/Repair.
There was a major water main leak in December at the Niagara Falls water treatment plant, and staff used high strength materials to build a pipe within the existing pipe.
Two aging connections between the underground reservoir and the plant were fixed without any digging, or disrupting water flow to anyone.
Director of Water Phil Lambert was thrilled to announce this award during National Public Works Week.
