11 schools impacted so far
The number of COVID cases in schools across Niagara is beginning to climb,
To date, 11 elementary schools are reporting cases of the virus, four of the schools are with the DSBN and the remainder at Niagara Catholic.
The biggest outbreak is at Oakridge Elementary in St. Catharines, where three cases have been reported and five classes have been closed.
Meantime, with cases rising in school across the province, NDP Leader Andrea Horwath has a media conference set for this morning at 10 am to again call for mandatory vaccines for education workers and other measures to make schools safe.
Right now the DSBN says 87 percent of its staff are vaccinated, Niagara Catholic is still compiling the stats.
