St. Catharines Mayor Walter Sendzik to serve as Board Chair.
The Niagara Transit Commission has taken its first step towards launching a single transit system for all of Niagara.
Yesterday, the Commission held its first Board meeting, selecting St. Catharines Mayor Walter Sendzik as Chair.
Grimsby Regional Councilor Wayne Fertich was named Vice-Chair.
On January 1st, 2023, the Commission will assume control of all transit operations in Niagara.
Throughout the remainder of the year, the Commission will focus on goals such as a branding strategy, the development of a strategic workplan and the hiring of a General Manager.
The Niagara Region says transit users can expect existing routes and services to operate at current levels after the Commission takes over.
