Hernder Estate Wines has noticed about 20-25% increase, since President Trump's tariffs
A well-known Niagara winery is noticing about 20-25% increase in sales over the last few months since President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on Canada.
Angel Hernder tells us she can't speak for the LCBO and its stores, as Hernder Estate Wines is not with them, but people are moving away from American imports. "So, I have seen a significant increase on delivery to homes, and, now that it's summer time, and kids are out of school, the tourism is now in full force."
As for American visitors, she met three couples recently.
"And I said 'Are you here for the weekend?' and they said 'No, we're a couple of hours away, so we decided to come and do some wineries'. Last weekend, I had a lot of Americans and international, and they're from all over."
Brock University marketing profs say Ontario wine sales have shot up 60% since this trade war started.
