The Community Emergency Response Team is looking for 100 volunteers to help in a time of crisis
The Niagara Region is looking for volunteers for its Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
The team is trained to provide assistance in a variety of situations, including the following:
- Immediate first aid and rescue around their homes post-disaster
- Helping with disaster relief efforts
- Distribution of emergency supplies
- Assisting with annual emergency exercises
At the moment, 100 volunteers are being sought.
Recruitment will be completed in two groups of fifty people, and applicants can indicate whether they want to be part of the spring or fall group.
Fifty qualified candidates were recruited in its first year in 2022.
The team provided assistance during the blizzard in December, providing assistance to staff at three different warming centres.
