SIU Director says there is no reason to believe officer committed a crime.
The SIU will not be laying charges against an NRP officer after a 27 year old woman crashed her car during a police chase in Port Colborne.
On November 20, 2021, officers briefly pursued the woman's vehicle after they saw her speeding on Main Street and make a reckless U-turn.
Officials say police lost sight of the woman after she drove through a red light at West Side Road.
A short time later, they were waved down by a man, regarding a collision at a residence on Main Street West near Oakwood Street.
The driver had crashed into a house and was taken to hospital with a serious injury.
SIU Director Joseph Martino says there are no reasonable grounds to believe the subject officer committed an offence.
