The NPCA says the area is unsafe due to dry weather conditions and the risk of fire
Wainfleet residents are being asked to stay away from the Wainfleet Bog Conservation Area.
The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority has closed the area to the public, due to dry weather conditions and the risk of fire.
Residents are being asked not to visit the bog until it is re-opened.
The Wainfleet Bog is the largest remaining bog in Canada, and is home to a wide variety of unique plants and animals.
If you do want to hit the trails, you can visit the Wainfleet Wetlands Conservation Area (10632 Quarry Rd. in Port Colborne) or Morgan’s Point Conservation Area (11420 Morgan's Point Rd. in Port Colborne).
