Constable Phil Gavin confirmed but would not provide details
Niagara Regional Police confirming media reports they are investigating a complaint made about Marineland.
NRP Constable Phil Gavin says a complaint was received from a member of the public regarding the theme park and its use of marine mammals.
Gavin says at this point in the investigation it would not be appropriate to provide further details and potentially jeopardize the investigation,
Toronto media is reporting two complaints were filed one by a lawyer representing Last Chance for Animals
The lawyer tells CP 24 the complaint concerns whether Marineland violated a section of the criminal Code that bans captive whales and dolphins from being used in shows for entertainment purposes.
One of the group's Canadian members took photos and videos of dolphins and belugas this summer they say shows the animals being made to perform behaviours not found naturally in the wild
