Horrifying claim trending on social media
Police say the claim, which is starting to trend, states that on April 24th, sexual assault is legal for the day.
The force emphasizing there is no such thing as a free day for criminal offences.
Police add sexual violence is never acceptable as a joke or punch line.
In a release they also remind us that sexual assault can include rape, incest, sexual harassment, stalking, indecent exposure, degrading sexual imagery, cyber harassment, trafficking or sexual exploitation.
The service also notes one in three females and one in eight males experience sexual violence.
