A 21-year veteran of the Niagara Regional Police has been suspended with pay after being charged with impaired. Police responded to reports of an impaired driver in Niagara-on-the-Lake just after 8:00 Thursday night. They tried to stop a pickup but the driver kept going. A short pursuit followed but was called off for safety reasons. A few minutes later police say the pickup collided with another vehicle. The driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries. 54-year-old Paul-Andre Seguin of Fort Erie faces five charges including impaired, flight from a peace officer and dangerous operation. The province’s Special Investigation Unit is now investigating.
