Searches in Grimsby, Hamilton, Brantford, North York and Oakville turn of contraband cigarettes and chewing tobacco, as well as thousands of dollars in cash.
A five month OPP investigation has led to an arrest and the seizure of a large amount of contraband tobacco.
On January 27th, five search warrants were conducted at locations in Grimsby, Hamilton, Brantford, Oakville and North York.
Investigators say 290,000 contraband cigarette sticks and 9,000 grams of contraband chewing tobacco were found, as well as about $15,000 in Canadian currency and $9,000 in U.S. cash.
The estimated street value of the contraband tobacco is over $100,000 Canadian dollars.
Facing trafficking and fraud related charges is 54 Nafiz Fajem of Hamilton.
The investigation remains active, and a court date has been scheduled for April 29th.
