Officer smashes window to save baby in distress
Peel Regional Police have laid charges against the parents of an infant who was found locked in a hot vehicle in Mississauga on Tuesday during the heat wave.
Officers were called in after the baby, who was under a year of age, was found alone in the vehicle in a parking lot by passersby.
An officer smashed the car window to get the child out.
The baby was taken to hospital and is expected to recover.
A 28-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman have both been charged with failing to provide the necessities of life and abandoning a child.
Police are not naming the parents in order to protect the identity of the child.
