Couple arrested at Thorold home, after investigation that began in September
Two people from Thorold have been arrested in connection to human trafficking.
Last month, Niagara Regional police began investigating the couple for offences in Niagara and throughout Ontario.
Using a search warrant, police entered a home on Esther Crescent in Thorold yesterday, and arrested the man and woman.
Police add they found evidence of human trafficking, as well as roughly $40,000 worth of suspected fentanyl, other drug paraphernalia, and over $7,000 in proceeds of crime.
Shaquelle Fitzroy Haughton and Jade Charley, both 28-years old, face a raft of charges, and remain in custody pending court appearances.
Police believe there may be more victims, and add Charley is known to frequent Brantford, Woodstock, Sarnia, Toronto, Northern Ontario and Winnipeg.
