Beamsville childcare centres closed briefly
Some tense moments this afternoon in Beamsville, especially for childcare facilities, as police searched for an armed robbery suspect.
It all began just before 4pm, when Niagara Regional police were called to the Coastal Kitchen Bar, and Home Hardware, on King Street concerning attempted armed robberies.
Police found a man with a gun entered both stores within minutes of each other, and demanded money. He didn't get any from either, and walked away northbound on Central Avenue. None of the employees were hurt.
Police add since the suspect walked in the direction of childcare facilities, police searched those places to ensure they were safe, and out of abundance of caution, locked them down until a thorough search for the suspect was done.
Police did not find the suspect, and say he is white, about 35 years old, 6" tall, and weighs about 175lbs.
Call police if you know anything, and Crimes Stoppers offers cash rewards for information that leads to an arrest.
