Two Niagara meat processing companies are about to get a boost from the province.
Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff announced $300,000 in funding for Premier Kosher in Smithville and Jadee Meat Products in Beamsville.
Premier Kosher will use its share to increase productivity and wastewater capacity, and Jadee Meat Products will put its funds into freezer and frozen meat tumbling capacity.
Oosterhoff says this is good news for the two companies.
"Food safety and security in our food supply chain is more important than ever. The federal and provincial investment in Premier Kosher and Jadee Meat Products is welcome news for the local meat processing industry in Niagara West."
These are two of the 77 projects receiving cost-share funding for upgrades through the Canadian Agricultural Partnership.
Since June 2018, the federal and provincial governments have devoted cost-sharing funds to about 4,400 projects across Ontario.
