200 migrant workers from Mexico who arrived over the weekend at Pearson Airport received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The provincial government will then follow up with farms where they will be working this summer for the second shot.
After reviewing the weekend vaccination efforts, the province hopes to make this a permanent program starting in a week.
It’s part of an effort to stop the spread of the virus on farms where migrant workers share living quarters.
