Ontario government looking to build 50,000 new homes.
The province is considering moving land from the Greenbelt, in order to build 50,000 new homes.
Housing Minister Steve Clark has launched a month long consultation to discuss removing about 7,400 acres from the Greenbelt to 15 different areas.
Clark is also proposing adding over 9,000 acres to the Greenbelt elsewhere, so that it would grow despite the land that would be removed.
The Greenbelt was created to protect environmentally sensitive lands from development.
The province has set a goal of building 1.5 million homes over the next ten years.
