The provincial government is building on its promise to help train personal support workers (PSWs).
The province is providing $86 million to provide training to 8,000 PSWs through private colleges and school boards.
This is in addition to the Ford government's February investment of $115 million to train up to 8,200 at publicly assisted colleges.
Financial support will be made available to new students enrolled in a PSW program at one of the participating private career colleges.
Students beginning their training between May 1st and July 31st of this year will be able to get up to $13,325 to cover costs such as tuition and books.
As well, students in PSW programs at an Ontario district school board can get up to $7,735 for school expenses.
To be eligible, students must either be currently enrolled in a PSW program or beginning classes by March 31st, 2022.
The province has also devoted $239 million in temporary pay raises for PSWs and support workers in long-term care, hospitals, social services and publicly funded home and community care.
