Ontario will soon offer sign language courses to secondary students.
Starting in September, the province will offer second-language classes in American Sign Language (ASL) and Langue des signes quebecoise (LSQ).
Education Minister Stephen Lecce says this move is a step towards increasing accessibility in the province.
"By expanding second-language course options for students, our Government is cementing its role as a leader in providing innovative learning opportunities."
The province is the first jurisdiction in Canada to offer an LSQ curriculum, and one of the first to develop an ASL second-language curriculum.
