Mayor Diodati says "This RFP is dead"
On Friday, Niagara Parks received a proposal from Harry Oakes, President of HOCO, who own and operate many attractions along Clifton Hill. They propose renovating their existing Niagara SkyWheel into a new attraction and making it the largest observation wheel in Canada.
Niagara Parks had been receiving RFPs to build a new Ferris wheel in Queen Victoria Park. The RFP submission window ended June 23rd.
Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati says "as far as I'm concerned, this RFP is dead. And as far as I'm concerned, we're going to end up moving forward with this proposal from Harry Oakes to build a bigger, better Ferris wheel on his property."
The HOCO proposal does not ask for any public money.
