The Town of Lincoln to hear ideas on the former Beamsville school after a year of consulting
Some big decisions still to be made by the Town of Lincoln on what to do with what was the former Beamsville High School.
Chief Administrative Officer Mike Kirkopoulos tells us they've heard from many groups interested in using it for recreation, but there's also housing units to consider.
He adds they're still looking at federal and provincial partnership, and/or private. "I think that's why we're even getting away from calling it the former Beamsville High School. We're referring to it as the future of the Lincoln Community Hub, at the former BDSS site."
Town staff presents to council in the spring on further options and next steps.
He says they've spent the last year reading thousands of public responses, with the goal to keep the majority of it in public hands. "Part of that will depend on some of the required studies, that we're looking at doing, and some consultations. Are we going to sell part of it off, are we looking at seniors' housing, affordable housing? Our goal is to pay off that $2.8-million."
He says they'll look for federal and provincial help to pay that $2.8-million debt.
