Welland's Mayor releasing a statement concerning what happened last month on Second Street
Reassurance from Welland's mayor the city is working to strengthen how it responds to incidents like the police standoff on Second Street last month.
Frank Campion's office released a statement today, first thanking everyone who was impacted for sharing their experiences, whether it was being asked to stay indoors overnight, or those who helped keep schools safe.
The mayor adds while the immediate situation was resolved, this still leaves people feeling unsettled.
While short on specifics, he said meetings are taking place to review what happened, and how to strengthen community and city staff safety.
Police have laid numerous charges, including attempted murder, against a man after an NRP officer was shot, but survived.
