Niagara Falls NDP MPP Wayne Gates wants provincial investment in Fort Erie building, saying it'll help secure federal money
Niagara Falls' NDP MPP is hoping for provincial help with a seniors' apartment complex in Fort Erie.
During the first day back at Queen's Park yesterday, Wayne Gates asked for investment in the Douglas Heights Seniors project.
The nine story apartment is being led by the Fort Erie Lions, providing 62 units.
Gates adds the project needs to raise $1.5-million to qualify for federal funding, and says the province can help this over the finish line.
In 2022, the Age-Friendly Niagara Survey identified increasing affordable housing options as one of the top five concerns for seniors throughout Fort Erie and the Niagara Region.
