City of Welland looking into this after many parents expressed concern with kids crossing for Quaker Road school
Another step closer to installing a signalized school crossing on 1st Avenue for kids going to Quaker Road school in Welland.
Councillor Brian Green has his colleagues' support in asking city staff for details, such as cost and where to put it.
He says sometimes there hasn't been a crossing guard, due to the process of getting one. "At least there's a safe way to get across the road, if the crossing guard is not there. I'm just getting a significant number of parental concerns regarding the traffic, the speed, and just the difficulty."
Councillor Leo Van Vliet applauded his colleague.
"Both of my boys went to school there, and that's a number of years ago. I can tell you traffic has changed significantly in that area, and it's really necessary there."
At this point, there's no indication of when this report will come.
