St. Catharines Mayor Mat Siscoe hoping for a 2nd term at the helm, but he pledges there won't be another after that.
He believes 8-years is enough, then let others take over with different ideas. "The conversation I had with my wife, when I originally said I wanted to do this, I needed to make sure she was on board with it. She said OK, 2 terms, but then move onto something else. I loved being a teacher."
For a 2nd term he'd like to keep working on housing. "We said yes to housing in the places that were appropriate for it. But, we also said no to housing opportunities that didn't make sense for the community. So, we have to continue with that kind of eye."
He also wants to keep strengthening infrastructure, and make neighbourhoods safer.
He looks back on the last few months, but is also proud of where money has gone. "This term of council we doubled the infrastructure budget, we tripled the amount of money we were putting into water, wastewater and stormwater, over the course of this term. We need now to get our provincial and federal partners on board to figure out where they can help."
He says 20-years in politics is enough, then let others take over.
