Thorold approving it for the Beaverdams Park area

Some good news for Thorold's downtown, as the summer time approaches.

The city has approved construction of the Battle of Beaverdams Park splashpad, costing roughly $450,000.

Councilor Jim Handley is thrilled considering the work they've done to the area.  "It's been 8 1/2 years, with what we've done with the downtown, the parking, the park, Front Street renovations, it's another great addition to the downtown.  It's only going to make the market more successful than what it has in the last 3 years."

The Silverline Group is putting in the underground work, Water Splash Inc is putting in the pad equipment.

Councillor Mike De Divitiis says that park is always busy.  "And there's so many families around, and apartment buildings, with kids who really need this, it's a great news story.  We have the best park, I say it over and over again, the Battle of Beaverdams park, it's the best, right beside downtown, it's going to make the summer.... cool."

City staff don't expect it to be quite ready for Canada Day.
