The Ontario Land Tribunal ordered the payment to City of St. Catharines for 2023 fire
The owners of a St. Catharines hazardous waste facility will have to pay the city almost $3.7-million in cleanup costs after a massive explosion and fire.
The Ontario Land Tribunal has ruled Ssonix Products, its officers and directors, must pay following that 2023 fire that killed employee Ryan Konkin.
The ruling came last week, after the company's directors appealed a city order to pay $4.2-million for cleanup at the Keefer Road site.
The city says the amount owed was adjusted by deducting certain legal, labour, and other costs not associated with the impact of the spilled product.
Mayor Mat Siscoe adds our thoughts remain with the family of Ryan Konkin.
