A new colourful crosswalk is now in St. Catharines.
The crosswalk, which is on St. Paul Street between the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre and Mahtay Cafe, features the colours of the PRIDE flag.
It also has chevrons in honour of those who are transgender, people of colour or First Nations community members.
The motion was put forth by councilor Greg Miller in 2019, and in July 2020, council approved $7,000 for the installation of the crosswalk.
The crosswalk was installed just in time for Pride month, which is celebrated in June.
