Community groups looking to establish new gardens or improve existing ones can now apply for annual grant
The City of St. Catharines is helping community gardens take root.
Applications are now open for community garden funding.
The annual program allows local charities and non-profits to apply to receive matching funds from the City to create or improve local gardens.
Eligible costs include lumber, soil, seeds, and rain barrels.
"The contribution of community gardens cannot be measured in the yield of a harvest - this is also about community building, learning about horticulture and enjoying some time working in the outdoors," said Ilyse Norton, the City’s Development Horticultural Technician. "This program is a great opportunity for the City to work with community partners to establish new community gardens or enhance existing ones."
Applications will remain open until March 8th.
All projects must be completed by October 31st, 2023.
